Whether you’re a beginner or an accomplished artist, this inspirational painting course is designed to teach you how to capture the feeling of any scene and transform it in your own unique vision narrative or abstract.
From beginners wanting to learn the basics, to those who have lapsed from their easels over the years; from the seasoned professionals and painting lovers, looking for idyllic settings, to those who want to experience the clarity of light and the stretching hues of the famous Greek islands; all are welcome to join the painting workshop. Individual attention is given throughout the day and teaching is easily adapted to the abilities and needs of each student.
The studio opens daily 9am-7pm while students are encouraged to work outdoors under the guidance of their tutor. The outdoor scenery is promoted for a bigger range of painting inspiration. The choice to work indoors will always be available. Each afternoon after painting, students can participate in art discussions and critique in the relaxed atmosphere of the veranda.

The picturesque village of Poros is situated along the south east coast of Kefalonia and is the principal village of the Pronnoi region and one of the two main ports of the island. It has a fine combination of sea and mountain scenery as it lies along a 3 kilometer coast just at the foot of the Atros Mountain. The area has great archaeological interest as one of the four ancient cities of Kefalonia was located here.
MetaxArt Retreat is placed in the centre of the village of Poros just few meters away from the coast. Palm and lotus trees surround the garden and the veranda while the scenery is completed by the blue hues of the sky and sea. The vibrant colours of the bugambilias, the foliage of the trees and the colourful views complement the ideal environment that one needs in order to let go and fulfil their creativity.
MetaxArt Workshops are designed by the artist Natasha Metaxa, an experienced and successful tutor of Visual Arts to all ages, abilities and levels.
Natasha Metaxa is an Athens based artist, born on 1961. She is an active painter & visual artist and has given many solo and group exhibitions in Athens, New York, and London.
Her disciplines include drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media and computer art.
She has taught as Research Fellow at the University of the Aegean, Department of Sciences in the Pre-School Education and Educational Design and in many other institutions.
We run at 12 participants maximum capacity. 6 participants minimum per workshop.
Teaching is adapted to each participants needs.

Individual attention is given throughout the day, teaching is adapted to the abilities and needs of each student while allowing them to enjoy their stay on the island.
Participants that had practiced painting are advised to send us some pictures of their paintings in order to offer them a specialised tutoring according to their needs.
The studio opens at 9.00am and use of the studio is 6 hours per day, with morning and evening classes, including tutoring, demonstrations, exercises and lectures.
All classes are out doors at the veranda and garden of the studio as well as to nearby locations. However the choice to work indoors will is always available. During the morning session you can paint with acrylics or oils on canvas, water colors, pencils or charcoal on fine paper. Usually in the afternoon sessions demonstrations and exercises take place or you can experiment with another medium or continue your morning painting. One evening a lecture with the theme “Landscape through Art History/Elements of Composition and Structure and Colour Analysis” will be held at the studio where artists and their non-painting partners are welcome to follow.

MetaxArt provides: Easels, stools, palettes, foam boards, brushes, knives, charcoals, acrylics, oils, water colours, fine water colour paper, gesso coated paper, primed canvases, wooden boards, framed or unframed canvasses (35x45cm, 40x50cm, 50x70cm).
As artists are usually attached with their beloved tools such as brushes, knives we optionally suggest to bring them with you.
MetaxArt can provide fine art papers for sketching but we recommend to bring with you your own sketch book and coloured water colour pencils or water colours as you will be taught how to use them any time in the future wherever you are, indoors or outdoors.
All the art works produced during the workshop belongs to the painters who created them.
You have three choices of carrying back your artworks:
Participants have to leave the next day of the last workshop day since the Exhibition farewell event finishes late in the evening of the last workshop day.
The daily plan is organised in a way to offer you enough time to relax, go for a walk or a swim.
MetaxArt Studio is located by the seashore, so whenever you feel like you can take a break and go for some sunbathing and swimming.
At your arrival you will get the daily schedule and then you can organise your free time.
In order to book you have to submit the application form through MetaxArt Website and deposit the minimum 20% of tuition fees.
We accept payments in € Euros and £ British pounds by bank transfer or Paypal.
We do not assume any charges for transactions made by your paying-institution.

MetaxArt will coordinate reservations for participants and assist with hotels. MetaxArt collaborates with local hotels which highly recommend them for its workshops participants, all with bathroom in suite and reasonable prices and close to MetaxArt Studio.

No. Participants are free to choose from two payment options, with or without accommodation. Accommodation is included only if chosen by request. The hotels are 3-8 minutes walking from MetaxArt and only one with swimming pool is 20 minutes walking distance uphill.
